OUR MISSION
Everyone in town knows the teacher who inspires us, the nurse who cares for us, the police officer who makes us feel safe. They are the foundation of a vibrant community and to us, they are famous.
There’s just one problem though: these famous friends aren’t guaranteed to stick around forever. Many are renters that lack the savings to purchase a home in town and plant roots.
At Famous Friends it is our mission to remove this obstacle to homeownership by providing down payment grants to first-time homebuyers who serve in rural and urban communities that need them the most.

Our board combines decades of mortgage market, financial operations and community engagement experience.

Your donation can unlock 30 times the amount in government funds: for every $3 that we give to our famous friends, they are able to secure $97 in low cost, government guaranteed Fannie Mae or Ginnie Mae loans.

Our network of volunteers allows us to pass through 100% of your donation to grant recipients versus as little as 75% for some larger organizations with high overhead and advertising budgets.

For donations covering an entire down payment, you have the option to specify the target area and occupation.
